Our Role

Our role as architect, project administrator, interior designer and project supervisor was to craft a scheme that, taking into account the fractured nature of the streetscape, would maximise the value of the site and leverage its prime position backing onto Dublin’s TU Campus.
It is hoped that this will be the first of many schemes designed to help bring back the hustle and bustle of this once great street that was not only the location of Europe’s busiest cattle markets but also home to Dublin’s much-loved fictional resident, Leopold Bloom.
While employed as a clerk at the cattle market, Leopold and Molly Bloom lived in No. 9 of the City Arms Hotel at 55 Prussia St.. Curiously, Bloom was fired by his boss, trader John Cuffe, for having too many opinions, one being that a tram should be built to allow cattle move by rail rather than hoof through the northside streets to the quays from where they were shipped to England for slaughter.

The result is a scheme that is of high architectural quality, and which responds appropriately to its context offering a respectful and positive and contribution to place making within the area.
When complete, the facility will create a connection and permeability between Prussia street and the campus through a historic wall that was built to keep the public out and the inmates in.
