Meet Our Team

Hugh Wallace


Hugh Wallace is a founding partner of Douglas Wallace Architects and is now a Director of Douglas Wallace Consultants. Hugh have a well-developed and clear knowledge of the hospitality and leisure sector after 35 years in the creation and delivery of hotels, spas and resorts. He is able to draw on his practical knowledge and experience to work alongside the client to assist and define a project. Hugh is responsible for the successful development and delivery of the most appropriate and effective solution for each individual project.

As a well-travelled individual Hugh is acutely aware of what hotel brands bring the customer experience and their importance in an ever confusing hospitality world. His success in achieving this aim has been reflected through the numerous award winning hotel designs completed for his clients. Two years ago he was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Institute of Designers for this contribution to the design industry. He is a judge of Home Of The Year a RTE production now in its fifth year and the presenter of the Great House Revival, again an RTE television production.

Gerry Hand


Gerry Hand is a director and shareholder of Douglas Wallace since 1996 and is a fellow of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland.

Gerry has long and extensive experience of Hotel and Resort design throughout Europe, going back to the Ritz Carlton Sintra, Sheraton Pine Cliffs Algarve through the Ashford Castle Estate to the Morrison and G Hotels and the Galgorm Resort & Spa.

Gerry has a particular expertise in exterior architecture and an ability to effectively engage with statutory planning processes. He has a proven ability to maximise the potential of a project and an expertise in Strategic Housing Applications.

Gerry has received many awards including European Hotel of the Year 2000, Best Spa (UK) 2015 and RIAI Building of the Year 1999 & 2006.

Gerry is responsible for design oversight of all office architectural projects.

Adrian Lambe


Adrian leads the Hotel design team in Douglas Wallace. With extensive experience working with well known brands across a global context, Adrian has knowledge in keys areas of commercial, leisure and
hospitality design.

Creative thinking and detailed implementation are the fundamentals of Adrian’s design approach, maximizing all the potential commercial aspects of the work. A qualified architect, he is adept at bringing a project from the conceptual stage right through to implementation and successful completion.

Joe Gallagher


Joe has worked with Douglas Wallace for the last 20 years and his expertise is in taking projects from planning approval stage to delivering the completed building on site through the co-ordination of the design team, liason between this team and the Contractor as well as with the Client on issues requiring decisions that effect cost and programme.

He has successfully delivered numerous mixed use schemes Including Retail, Hotels and Cinemas to agreed deadlines and budgets.

Damian Meehan


Damian has worked with Douglas Wallace for the last 14 years and his expertise is in taking projects through all stages from inception to completion. His work includes a particular focus on the tender and construction stages along with a comprehensive knowledge of the statutory and compliance items required to deliver projects.

His role includes leading the tender, construction and contract administration processes as well as being a PSDP, Design Certifier and Assigned Certifier. He understand the importance of leading the coordination of design and project team activities to deliver the overall result at all levels of detail.
