Overview
The Navan Town Shopping Centre development has anchored the shopping experience in this busy Meath town for the last thirty years and is now past its sell-by date. Douglas Wallace Consultants were engaged by Irish Life and Aramak Properties to develop a master plan to improve the performance and opportunity to increase the asset value. The centre is a valuable investment, this refurbishment is timed to coincide with major rent reviews and lease negotiations to attract new tenants to increase the appeal of the centre to an expanding population.

Our Role
At the heart of Navan Shopping Centre is the central atrium, occupied by a number of independent and international retailers. The central space has organically grown over the years. These ad-hoc lettings have led to blocked vistas, no visibility of the anchor stores and a lack of clarity for wayfinding. This has resulted in a flurry of banners to re-balance the shopping environment, this has only led to further visual confusion.
The core issues of wayfinding, and signage have been addressed in our design solution. The reconfiguration of the atrium tenancies has created sightline visibility for the main anchors from key vantage points. The materials within the atrium have been upgraded has given clarity and legibility to the atrium and will increase the appeal and lengthen the dwell time for the customer to improve the spend per head.
The invigorating elevation announces the changes within and clearly identifies the entrance locations. Additional retail units will enhance the interaction between the centre and the town centre, thereby animating the streets and creating a sense of place and the buzz of street life.
