Overview
The Ivanhoe Inn & Hotel was originally a public house & inn on the main trade route from Belfast to the South Co. Down region. Bedroom trade has always done well here, more recently thriving on the corporate/ business traveller. However, the food & beverage offer had declined in recent years & the public areas of the hotel were in need of attention.

Our Role
The client engaged with Douglas Wallace to come up with a solution to this problem appropriate to the hotel & it’s context of passing restaurant & bar trade & a large local catchment area. This involved complete repositioning, rebranding & refurbishment of the bar & restaurant areas, while retaining the character of the existing long established public house. New outdoor courtyards & dining areas complement the newly refurbished internal spaces. The restaurant has now established itself as a main dining destination for the local population & is a welcome stopover for passing trade to and from Belfast.
Following on from the successful relaunch of the restaurant, the reception area was completed in the same vein, setting the tone for the look and feel of the whole hotel, and for future bedroom upgrade works.
“Having previously worked with Douglas Wallace, we knew first hand that their expertise & knowledge of the hotel sector was required to help breathe new life into our long established family hotel. They suggested we completely re-evaluate our existing food & beverage offer, and worked with us to create not only wonderful new interiors, but also helped with rebranding and menu creation. Turnover since the refurbishment tells the whole story.”
