Dating back to the 1800’s, the Millbrook Lodge Hotel was formerly a Church of Ireland Rectory. Situated on the outskirts of Ballynahinch, and close to the scenic beauty of the Mourne Mountains, the Millbrook Lodge Hotel occupies a tranquil setting within 6 acres of beautifully mature landscaped grounds.
In 2012 the Maguire family recognised that their hotel was in need of a major refurbishment if it was to survive. They engaged with Douglas Wallace Consultants who responded with a long term commercial strategy for the hotel to position it as one of the main wedding venues in Northern Ireland.

Our Role
The response from Douglas Wallace Consultants was to develop a tailored phased masterplan linked to an overall business plan which could be delivered over a number of years, focussing initially on the banqueting room & bridal bedrooms to generate income for the hotel & reinvigorate business. As wedding bookings swiftly increased, Phase Two followed with the refurbishment of the remaining bedrooms. The final phase of the existing hotel commenced in January 2016, to reposition the existing restaurant as a casual bar & grill, attracting the existing & a new target market.
The commercial success of this project has led to increased profitability, creating cash flow to allow completion of the refurbishment to take place over a three year period. Beautiful interior spaces & carefully selected furniture & finishes complete the package. The masterplan continues, with future plans for additional banqueting facilities and bedrooms to meet the newly created demand.
